Helpful hints

Getting started:

Click, type or both! Nymbler is guided by your own taste. Inspire it by choosing up to six names you like. They can be a combination of names Nymbler suggested (click the star icon by the name) and your own ideas (click the "Type a name..." button).

Looking for just girls' names or just boys' names? Choose the sex of name suggestions from the menu above the "Find Names" button.

Want to learn more about a name Nymbler suggests, or see more names like it? Simply click on the name.

Want to look for something different? You can remove a name from your current set of inspirations by clicking the remove icon next to it. Or, click "Clear Inspirations" to start over.

Do you like a name, but want to search in a different direction? To keep a name for later, click its favorite icon to move it to your Favorites list on the right. You can print or mail your Favorites when you're done.

Do you dislike a name, and want it out of your search results altogether? To remove a name from your search completely, click the block icon next to it to move the name to your Blocked list. If you're not sure, you can always add it back in the mix by clicking the remove icon next to it.

Subtleties of name finding (Nymbler is smart!)

You can use boys' names to search for girls' names, and vice versa. (Great for finding sibling ideas!)

Want more suggestions from your current inspirations? Click "More Names..." or try the Find Names button again.

You can share name ideas, and share Nymbler too! Click the email icon above your Favorites list to send the list to a friend or relative. We'll include the Nymbler URL in the email so they can play more on their own.

So what's going on in Nymbler's brain, anyway?

Nymbler thinks about your choices to get a sense of your unique sense of style. You can read more on the "How it works" page, but here's a hint: look at the "shadow" names that appear when a new suggestion is loading in. Nymbler is telling you that these are the names that inspired this suggestion. The bigger or bolder the shadow name, the more influence it had on the suggestion.
